But what if I told you that there's more to Oklahoma than just wind sweeping down the plains? Check out these awesome routes I found while out at the 2023 Stubborn American Rally hosted by Adam Sandoval at the KRiver Campground. Solo Ride: ruclips.net/video/-ui-JeqPE3o/видео...

    Having lived in both NY and Austin TX, I can tell you with 1000% certainty that TX blows the doors off NY if you are a motorcycle enthusiast. Your riding season at best is 7 months in NY and you could ride year round in TX if you stay hydrated during the summer months. Not even close as to which State is better for bikers. Stay travels my friends🙏

    Was a Motor Officer (in Texas) for 26 years, averaging 100 -125 miles a day in City traffic. One thing I still tell folks, is to stay out of the air conditioning as much as possible. Get hot and need a break? Get you a cold drink and go stand/sit in the shade. During the hot season (all 7 months of it) I would go thru 2-3 of the 2 liter (unrefrigerated) bottles of Gatorade a day. Staying acclimated and hydrated goes a long way to being able to work in the heat. I am a big believer in ATGATT. My normal (warm weather) riding gear is a pair of 8 inch lace-up boots, blue jeans, a cotton t-shirt, long sleeved button-up cotton work shirt, ballistic nylon (mesh) jacket with armor padding inserts, a pair of gloves with knuckle protection and a (modular) helmet. People (usually someone with a LOT less clothes on than me) are constantly asking “ ain’t you hot?” My response is always the same…” yes I am….just like you. The difference is that when I sweat, it gets wicked into my clothing. When I take off from a stop, the wind pushes through the mesh jacket and damp clothes cooling me off. On your exposed bare skin, the sweat either evaporates or runs off. You get to use your sweat maybe once while I use mine over and over”. I get to live and ride in Texas……sometimes it gets hot…….but I still get to live and ride in Texas. 🫡

    I have an issue riding in TX in the summers with high heat and humidity. Even my 20 mile commute is like riding in an airfryer. The morning commute with high humidity makes me feel like I need a shower when I get to work. Sitting at a light with the heat coming off the engine cooks.

    I have been riding solo for 40 years. Riding with a local group for about a year. I’m not a fan of riding with a group. I find I’m stressed most of the time. I’m constantly worrying about my speed, my gaps, maintaining the stagger. I feel like I can’t “ride my own ride” as I’m constantly told. I can’t enjoy the scenery or the ride.

    its like that out here in the Mojave ... just with less humidity HAHAHAHA but yeah, its like riding in a hair dryer .. you just have to constantly hydrate .. and dont forget to rotate in some electrolytes every now and then.

    We’ve all been there, after charging the battery after the battery was almost dead and the fear of turning it off that first time… then to experience the joy when it does start back up. 😅 What riding gear do you wear and what are some tricks to stay cool in the 100+ degree weather in Texas ? I’m in the Houston area and it’s not uncommon to be 103° and 70% humidity..

    Good Job. I have fabricated my own lift block (fxdx 1999] from 1” aluminium bar that was left from a previous project, the lamp bracket. I have removed the jiffy, drilled one hole (drill press recommended) in it then drilled a hole in my block and bolted them together. Then I drilled a second hole through this assembly since everything was aligned already and put the second bolt in it. No need to cut the threads since stainless steel bolt is harder than aluminium. In the next step I have traced the shape of the block around the jiffy foot and cut it with the angle grinder. There will be a lot of aluminium dust so do wear a mask and safety glasses. Finish with the file and scotch brite. Red locktite to make sure nothing gets loose. And service of the jiffy stand at the same time since it was off the bike. Worked like a charm at no cost. 1 hour job.

    I'm in SATX and ride year round. Gotta utilize a camelbak to sip water as you ride, and for the high summer I've got one of the cooler style compcoolers to throw on the pillion, with the radiator vest under my jacket I've been able to stay nice and cool on long August trips.

    I think its comical seeing guys not wearing a jacket while riding in the heat. The hot air over your body will keep you from sweating. Which is why people who live in hot climate, wear covering etc. Food for thought.

    • @jimc.7121
      @jimc.7121 8 часов назад

      Actually, the hot air helps to dry your sweat. I wear a mesh motorcycle jacket while I ride and that helps a lot. It's better to ride with crash protection than without it. In Texas this summer, it's like riding through a hot, humid hair dryer. Yuck!
